Getting the motorcycle ready for the trip. Engine oil changed at the dealership before we bought it. I was hoping they changed the air filter also. Went to the dealership Saturday to see everything they had done. No air filter done by them and nothing in their records. The previous owner could have done it but no way of telling.
I checked the labor price to have the dealership change it. $178.00 plus the filter. Filter is $40.00.
I figured I could do it with my YouTube manual and save the 178.00.
It's about a 2 hour process just to get to see if the filter needs to be changed. I am sure a good mechanic could do this in record time of 1 hour and 45 min. I am no mechanic so I set aside 3 hours for this job.
I bought the filter, cleaned a large area on the work bench, watched YouTube one more time and got to work. Even if the old filter looked brand new I was going to replace it.
I used my 3 hours and then some. The filter did need replaced. The hardest part of the job was getting the electrical connections apart.
I will do the next one.
